Just a quick follow up on our recent outing at Rio Parismina Lodge in Costa Rica. As you know, I was there some 25 years ago so I have some basis for comparison over the past quarter century. It could not have been better for the simple reason that resident owner-management cannot be beat in an operation like this. Owner-Manager Judy Heidt was terrific as was all of her staff. In the course of the past nearly 50 years I have had the privilege of hunting and fishing in some of the finest of such facilities from Africa to Alaska and back. I can honestly say in retrospect that there was absolutely nothing that was not very well done and I would not have a single suggestion for improving any aspect of the operation. From a guy that can usually find something wrong with anything, that is saying a lot. From the 5 am pre-breakfast coffee, juice and fruit to the premium grade of toilet paper it was all first class. Some members in our party had special dietary requirements that were honored correctly and cheerfully. Our Board meeting requirements were met perfectly and again with cheerful cooperation.
Now to the fishing. When I was there there last, the fishing was good but not spectacular. The fish were in the 50 to 75 pound range and it was often a long time without any action. On this return, I had all the Tarpon I wanted well before the lunch period. Two of the mornings my partner and I were back in the Lodge by 9 am totally “fished out”. The fish ran from about 80 pounds to 120 pounds and doubles were quite common. The guides were terrific and knew how to get things done. We used all lodge equipment which was in excellent condition as were the boats and motors. I give most of this credit to Judy who holds IGFA line class records for Tarpon and Snook. She knows how to fish and what fisherman want. The food was great and plenty of it. My party particularly enjoyed all the fresh fruit right from the surrounding countryside. The open bar with premium brands and daily laundry service was just the icing on a very pleasant cake.
I am still travelling and do not have Judy’s email address with me. Please forward this to her along with my sincere thanks for a great outing. I cannot wait to do it again. Should you need anyone to take a phone call or answer an email for references, I would be pleased to assist.
The other day I received one of those long, list-your-favorite-things e-mails, which usually I just delete. But one question stuck out: "If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?"
That was easy. Even though Dusty has been to Parismina 40 times, and I've made the last 29 of those trips, my answer was "I wish we were at Judy's." Which is why we've already booked our group's usual week at Rio Parismina Lodge for the fall.
You and Fernando and your staff have created a paradise for pescadors, and Dusty and I and our amigos can't wait to come back for another week of jungle magic! See you in 301 days!

I never got a chance to really thank you, but I had an amazing time in Costa Rica.
I finally got a few of the pictures and I can't help but day dream of still being at Parismina. I hope all is well. Talk to you soon. Thank you again for setting up a perfect trip.

Thanks to you and your wonderful staff for a week of fishing at RPL that will never be forgotten. Our group of four boated in excess of 85 large Tarpon per boat during the week of 9/2-9/8. We had them up and jumping all the time. Now the four of us need a rest just to get our strength back. WOW! What a trip. The food, boats, guides and the staff! Everything and everyone was fabulous. Thanks again for being such a great hostess.

One of the best trips I’ve been on. You have a great place—guides & food 2nd to none. Hope to be back next year.

As you might of guessed, we again had a great time. This was our fourth trip. If you base any trip solely on how many fish you catch, you are sure to be disappointed. We all caught fish- everyone in the group took at least one. Several of our men took a token Tarpon and spent the rest of their time on the rivers. They weren't disappointed! They took enough Snook to feed the entire camp and saw enough wildlife to start a Zoo! This all in a setting that looks like something Hollywood created.
The camp itself seems to get better every time. The cabins, dining facilities, staff and, of course Judy treats every group as though they were close family. Where can you start and stop praising a trip like this? Roberto met us at the airport on time and met our every request. The guides are all helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Wait staff seemed to anticipate our needs. The rooms are spotless. The grounds could rival an English garden. Fernando and Judy are maestros-orchestrating a motivated staff of 35.
A big thank-you from all of us to all of you.

Thanks again for you wonderful hospitality! I really had a great time. Enclosed is a check for my bill. Please put the rest towards the school fund. Thank you!

Thank you and Judy again for the wonderful trip. It was perfect in every way. I hope you can see to it that Judy gets a copy of the story. It was one we dreamed up at Happy Hour one evening and everyone at the Lodge was following our success through the day. Thanks again,

I just wanted to follow-up on our recent trip to Paradise. Everything at Rio Parismina Lodge was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, it was perfect. The video we obtained is far better than we anticipated with may of the Tarpon jumps at point blank range. We will be able to edit some world class video from our trip. Please tell everyone, especially your guide Melvin, thank you for making us feel at home. I am looking forward to our next trip to Rio Parismina Lodge (it will be my 4th!) The hospitality, service, personal attention to every detail and of course the "Silver King" was all we hoped it would be. Thanks for providing us with 10 days of exhausting relaxation.

I want to personally thank you for a wonderful time at your lodge. Every time I’m there, I have a better time than the last. You and your staff do a fantastic job of making our stay so pleasurable and accommodating. It is hard to explain the type of atmosphere that you created in a special part of the world to other people. The best way for me to get the message across is to say that I can’t wait to get back next year. Please thank your staff and all the great guides for me again and thank you very much for being a wonderful hostess and a friend.

I just got back from the best fishing trip that I have ever been on. After hearing how good the fishing has been at R.P.L. I at the last minute decided to take a chance. I fished Nov. 8th through the 14th. The weather was great, the ocean was flat as it gets. Good cloud cover and only 2 hours of rain. The wind came up after lunch one day and it was the only time I didn't go out because it was very choppy. The fishing was UN believable. I fished alone with Sidney using Sardines on circle hooks. We boated and released over 85 Tarpon, the biggest being 7-1/2 feet (which I measured using the rod) and figured the weight to be at least 150#. Most of the others were 70-90 lbs. with some being over 100. We had more than 200 fish up and out of the water, some on for a long time, others off fast. My hands are still puffed up and I can ’t make a fist with the right one and I haven ’t fished for two and a half days. I don’t have to tell you about the food and the service, you have been there. Just wanted you to know how great it was.
